Privacy Policy

4 The Tradie ("we", "us") runs the 4 The Tradie iPhone app and this website, 4thetradieapp.com. This policy explains what personal information we handle, why, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

The short version. You choose what goes in your profile and your reports. Reports are shared with other users so they know who they're dealing with. We don't sell your information. Payments go through Apple, so we never see your card. If you've been named in a report and think it's wrong, email hello@4thetradieapp.com and we'll review it.

What we collect in the app

Your profile. Details you choose to add, such as your name, business name, trade, state and country.
Reports you submit. Details about a client or business you worked for, such as their name, phone number, suburb, the risk level you chose, tags (for example didn't pay or slow payer), any amount owed and your notes.
Searches. The names, phone numbers or suburbs you search for, so the app can return results and count your daily free lookups.
Jobs and receipts. Jobs you add and receipt photos you take in the Jobs tab, so the app can track your work and read receipt totals.
Subscriptions. Whether you have Tradie Pro. Apple handles the payment and only tells us that a subscription is active.

Why we use it

To run the app: searches, reports, your profile, jobs and Tradie Pro features.
To show reports to other users so they can check who they're working for before the job starts.
To keep the community fair: reviewing reports, removing ones that break our rules and stopping misuse.
To answer you when you contact us.

Who can see reports

Reports are shared with other users of the app. Free users see summaries. Tradie Pro members see full report details, including phone numbers. Reports are the views of the tradie who wrote them. Please only report jobs you were part of, and keep it honest and factual.

If you've been named in a report

You can ask us to review any report about you. Email hello@4thetradieapp.com with the details and why you think it's wrong. We'll look at it and correct or remove information that is inaccurate, out of date, misleading or breaks our rules. You can also ask what information we hold about you and ask us to correct it.

Who we share it with

We don't sell personal information. We use trusted service providers to host and run the app and this website, and Apple to process subscriptions. They only use the information to provide their service to us. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Where it is stored

The app is used in Australia, the UK and the USA. Our service providers may store information on servers outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it.

This website

This website has no accounts and no advertising trackers.

Contact form. If you use the form on our home page we collect your name, email, and anything else you choose to give us: phone number, where you are, what kind of work you do, and your message. We use it to reply to you and to deal with what you asked about, such as a question, advertising, or a request to review a report.
News and offers. We only send you Robbo's news, app updates and offers if you tick the box to say yes. We record when you said yes. Every email we send says it's from 4 The Tradie and has an easy way to unsubscribe. We stop within 5 working days of you asking.
Where form details go. Form details are stored in Google Forms and Google Sheets, run by Google. Google may store them on servers outside Australia, including the USA. We only use Google to store and manage your details for us.
Visitor numbers. Our web host, Cloudflare, counts visits to the site without cookies and may process basic technical information, like your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and protect it from attack.
Email. If you email us, we keep your email so we can reply.

You don't have to give us your details, but if you don't give us an email we can't reply. You can ask us to see, correct or delete what you sent through the form at any time.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't put more in a report than you need to.

How long we keep it

We keep information while it's needed to run the app or as the law requires, then delete or de identify it. You can ask us to delete your profile at any time.

Children

4 The Tradie is made for adults who work in or hire trades. It's not meant for anyone under 18.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top will always show the latest version.
